Murrumbidgee Council announces Australia Day 2020 Ambassador
Murrumbidgee Council is looking forward to hosting renowned rifle shooter, Warren Potent, as the 2020 Australia Day Ambassador.
Murrumbidgee Mayor Ruth McRae said Mr Potent is Australia’s most successful rifle shooter.
Cr McRae said it will be a great honour to have Mr Potent attending our Australia Day events.
“He will attend the Australia Day breakfast at Coleambally, as well as lunch at Darlington Point”, Cr McRae said.
“He has also been invited to attend the celebrations at Jerilderie”, she said.
Mr Potent has been ranked the number 1 prone rifle shooter in the world six times in his career.
He has represented Australia at the Sydney, Athens, Beijing, London and Rio de Janeiro Olympic games.
His achievements include:
- Holder of two Commonwealth records.
- 1st Australian rifle shooter to win a World Cup Final.
- Only Australian rifle shooter to win an Olympic medal.
- Only Australian rifle shooter to compete at five Olympics.
- Only Australian rifle shooter to win a World championship.

Murrumbidgee Council is currently surveying local farmers and rural residents to gauge demand for the collection of household waste from property entrances. General Manager John Scarce said we are conducting a survey to gather feedback from rural residents about implementing a roadside collection service for garbage and recycling.

Ratepayers in the Murrumbidgee now have certainty of their domestic waste charges when the area moves to three kerbside bins in July this year.
