Drought Support Officer

Fixed Term Position to 31 December 2019 


An opportunity exists with Murrumbidgee Council for the fixed term employment of a Drought Support Officer.  This position will commence as soon as possible and conclude 31 December 2019.  

The vacancy has been created for a full time employee, however a flexible employment arrangement will be considered, which may involve a part-time position or job share arrangement.

The position has a salary range of $1,372 to $1,637 per week full time, plus superannuation, dependent on skills and experience.

Reporting to the Manager, Corporate & Community Services, the Drought Support Officer will be responsible for the development, submission, monitoring and reporting of initiatives approved under the Drought Communities Programme. They will liaise directly with the community and plan, manage and deliver drought related projects, events, workshops and initiatives to support the Murrumbidgee Council community.

The Officer will have primary responsibility for identifying, aggregating and disseminating information about drought related assistance and funding opportunities and support community groups and/or community members in the application process.

The Drought Support Officer will monitor and identify emerging issues relating to the effects of drought, which may require referral to relevant agencies for information and/or response.

Council seeks expressions of interest from enthusiastic and skilled persons to fill various short term and casual vacancies within Murrumbidgee Council’s operational workforce. These positions may be based at Council’s Depots in Darlington Point, Coleambally and Jerilderie.

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award 2017. Council’s indoor full time staff work 35 hours per week and full time outdoor staff work a 38 hours per week. Casuals are employed on a daily basis as required.
