Murrumbidgee Council joins with the community and proudly celebrates Australia Day in Coleambally, Darlington Point and Jerilderie.
Australia Day events in the Murrumbidgee Council area in 2022 will be reformatted following continuing concerns about holding large events during the omicron phase of the COVID pandemic.
A key part of the day is the ceremony to recognise the recipients of Australia Day awards and these special people in our community will now be recognised on our Facebook and Instagram pages and through the local media.
Another important aspect of the day is the visit by the Australia Day Ambassador. It is planned to have this year’s ambassador, Ms Viv Kartsounis, give an online address about her fascinating life and charity work.
We are looking forward to holding events in the future when it is safe to do so and we can ensure the health and safety of those wishing to attend and all staff and volunteers who are involved.
Thank you to the organising committees and to staff who have already spent a considerable amount of time preparing for the events. Your commitment to bringing events such as these to our towns is much appreciated and it is unfortunate that COVID-19 continues to impact our lives to such a degree.
See the pages for each town to find out more about the award recipients.
The Coleambally Australia Day Committee organise an Australia Day celebration which includes the presentation of various awards to recognise the tremendous contributions of individuals and groups in the community.
The Darlington Point Town Life Committee organise a great celebration for Australia Day and present various awards to recognise the great contributions individuals and groups make to this community.
The Jerilderie Australia Day Committee organise a celebratory evening at Luke Park for Australia Day and present various awards to recognise the great contributions individuals and groups make to our community.
