Landfills (waste depots)

Three waste depots (landfills) are available in our council area.

These are at Coleambally, Darlington Point and Jerilderie.

The open pit method of disposal is used at each of our facilities, with fencing to control litter.

The landfills have set opening hours and are closed at all other times, unless access is specially arranged.

Please check the announcement banner for any changes to landfill opening hours during public holidays.

Hours of operation 

Coleambally

  • Tuesday 9 am to 11 am
  • Thursday 9 am to 11 am
  • Sunday 2 pm to 5 pm

Darlington Point

  • Tuesday 2 pm to 4 pm
  • Thursday 2 pm to 4 pm
  • Sunday 8 am to 11 am

Jerilderie

  • Monday 8 am to 11 am
  • Wednesday 3 pm to 6 pm
  • Friday 8 am to 11 am
  • Sunday 2 pm to 5 pm

When there is a total fire ban the Jerilderie landfill will be open for the first hour only, as follows:

  • Monday 8 am to 9 am
  • Wednesday 3 pm to 4 pm
  • Friday 8 am to 9 am
  • Sunday 2 pm to 3 pm

Conditions for using the landfills

These conditions are to ensure the safety of landfill users and staff.

  • scavenging, browsing or other activities other than dumping your waste is not allowed
  • closely supervise all children under 12 years of age
  • children under 6 years of age should stay in your vehicle
  • wear sturdy robust footwear that covers the whole foot
  • the following items are not allowed: tyres, chemicals, asbestos, pesticides
  • do not light any fires
