How we evaluate supplier responses
With any procurement activity, we aim to obtain the “best value for money” to ensure public monies are spent wisely and produce the best outcomes for council and the community.
In most cases, this means choosing the lowest cost option. However, at times other factors need to be taken into account to ensure the best outcome, such as experience, quality, reliability, compatibility, timeliness, service, risk profiles, environmental and sustainability considerations, social impacts, ongoing costs and consistency with requirements/specifications.
If we decide not to choose the lowest cost option, we will record the reasons for the decision for future reference and audit purposes. If the expenditure exceeds $250,000 (including GST) and a formal tender process was not required, we will obtain a resolution from the council before proceeding with the requisition.
