Funding boost for community groups across Murrumbidgee

Community organisations across the Murrumbidgee Council area will share over $33,000 as part of the 2025 Community Grants Program, the Coleambally Solar Farm Community Fund, and the Darlington Point Lions Club Grant.

The funding empowers local organisations to boost community participation, upgrade facilities, and deliver services and events in the local area.

The successful recipients of the 2025 Murrumbidgee Council Community Grants Program are:

• Coleambally Community Club – $841.06 for upgrading the raffle system to include bingo options for senior members
• Country Education Foundation of Coleambally/Darlington Point – $2,000.00 to support local education grants
• Darlington Point/Coleambally Rugby League Football Club – $2,000.00 to assist with game day requirements including strapping, first aid supplies and sports trainer kits
• Darlington Point Public School P&C – $2,000.00 for an intensive swimming program
• Jerilderie Bowls Club – $1,000.00 to purchase bowling arms to assist bowlers with disabilities
• Jerilderie Football Netball Club – $1,259.94 for football guernseys to celebrate Indigenous football and netball round
• Jerilderie Swimming Club – $2,000.00 for training equipment including flippers, signage and caps
• Rebecca Norris (Darlington Point Swimming Pool) – $2,000.00 for ProAm float mats for learn-to-swim lessons and aquatic fun
• Riverina Vintage Machinery Club Inc Coleambally Group – $2,000.00 for the biennial Vintage Machinery Rally
• St Joseph’s Church, Jerilderie – $899.00 for a Dyson vacuum and battery to support volunteer cleaners
• St Joseph’s Primary School, Jerilderie – $2,000.00 to help students attend a live musical theatre performance
• Toganmain Woolshed Precinct – $2,000.00 to contribute towards electricity connection

Murrumbidgee Mayor Ruth McRae OAM congratulated all recipients and acknowledged the valuable work being done by community volunteers and organisations.

Cr McRae said the funding directly benefits our local communities and makes a difference to the lives of residents across the Murrumbidgee Council area.

“We are proud to support initiatives that foster inclusion, participation and education. These grants reflect our ongoing commitment to strengthening regional communities,” she said.

The recipients of the 2025 Coleambally Solar Farm Community Fund are:

• Coleambally Central School P&C – $1,925.00 for intensive water safety and survival lessons
• Coleambally Preschool Association Inc – $1,075.00 for security film for Early Learning Room windows
• Country Education Foundation of Coleambally/Darlington Point – $4,000.00 to support education grants
• Darlington Point Public School P&C – $3,000.00 for soft fall under infants playground equipment 
• Murrumbidgee Community Experimental/Demonstration Farm - $10,000.00 – annual donation

Neoen Australia CEO Jean-Christophe Cheylus said they were proud to continue the annual community contributions from the Coleambally Solar Farm and have distributed $140,000 in support of local projects to date. 

Mr Cheylus said this is one of Neoen's earliest solar farms in New South Wales and we are committed to seeing it sponsor a variety of educational, agricultural, health and community initiatives that bring benefits to this region. 

“We are thankful to the Murrumbidgee Council for their partnership over the years and congratulate all the recipients of this year's grant program," he said.

The 2025 Darlington Point Lions Club Grant was awarded to:

• Darlington Point Public School P&C – $2,000.00 for soft fall material under infants playground equipment
