Hold a public event
We welcome events that bring our communities together and showcase our area. Depending on the type, size and location of your event, you may need to obtain Council approval before your event can proceed.
Do I need to submit an Event Application?
As a guide, you will need to submit an event application if your event:
- Is being held on Council-owned or managed land.
- Requires exclusive use of public reserve, park or Council facility, including amenities such as toilets or existing infrastructure.
- Requires Council services, such as additional lighting of areas or additional waste services.
- Is expected to attract more than 200 attendees.
- Is open to the public, whether free or ticketed.
- Requires a temporary full or partial road closure.
- Includes temporary structures or facilities, such as stages, platforms, marquees or portable toilets.
- Includes amusement rides or inflatable devices.
- Involves the sale or service of food.
- Involves the sale, service or tasting of alcohol.
- Is a one-off sporting activity that is not part of a seasonal competition.
If you are unsure whether your event requires approval, please contact us on 1300 676 243 and speak to our Tourism & Events Officer.
When should I apply?
As a general guide:
- Submit your application at least 12 weeks before your event. Events involving road closures and/or alcohol service should be submitted at least 16 weeks before the event.
- Events with greater impact on the community, Council reserves, roads, parking or infrastructure may require additional assessment time.
