Transgrid EnergyConnect

Proposed Project: energy infrastructure project that includes a new 900km electricity transmission line, known as an interconnector, that will connect power grids across three Australian states, driving competition in the wholesale electricity market. The interconnector is being built between Wagga Wagga in New South Wales and Robertstown in South Australia, with a connection to Red Cliffs in Victoria. Transgrid is partnering with ElectraNet to deliver EnergyConnect, with Transgrid building the NSW section.

Preliminary investigations - from 2018
Community and landowner consultation - from 2019
Project approvals - early 2020 - mid 2022
Construction (proposed) From late 2021 (NSW Western section)
Project commissioning (proposed) - by 2024

Dinawan Energy Hub (DEH)

Proposed project: a hybrid wind, solar and battery storage project planned for an area about halfway between Coleambally and Jerilderie on the land of the traditional owners of the Murrumbidgee plains. The DEH is being developed by Spark Renewables.

Timeline: Consultation begins - December 2021.

Risen Energy Australia BESS Project 

Proposed project: a 100MW / 400MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) near the Coleambally Solar Farm. Included is: 

  • 45 blocks of battery system with each block containing 3 battery cabinet strings and each string having 10 battery cabinets.
  • A 33/132kV switching substation.
  • A new 132 underground cable transmission line connecting the BESS switching substation to the TransGrid transmission substation.
  • Associated ancillary infrastructure.
