Across the whole Local Government Area
Superfast digital connectivity program which will deliver new coverage across 6,400 sq km, boosting internet and mobile data to over 3,000 residents and 430 businesses. Project partners: Federal Government, Field Solutions Group, Murrumbidgee Council, Nokia (technology partner), Altina Wildlife Park, Cavaso Farming, Cotton Australia & Coleambally Irrigation. Under the Federal Government’s Regional Connectivity Program (RCP), the project will add new ‘true broadband’ technology on three existing towers and build two new 45m telco towers along the Newell Highway and Kidman Way. Announced by Member for Farrer Sussan Ley in April 2021.
Bundure Telstra Mobile Base Station
Location: Kidman Way, Bundure
Benefits: New and improved 4G mobile network coverage along the Kidman Way and more consistent data speeds for rural residents and visitors
Funded by: Jointly funded by Telstra and Murrumbidgee Council (Council contributed $400,000 through the NSW Government Stronger Communities Fund)
Relevant dates: Switched on in March 2021
Coleambally, Bencubbin Avenue reconstruction and drainage
Funded by: Federal Government's Heavy Vehicle Safety and Productivity Program ($626,000) and Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program ($1,008,021) and NSW Government's Stronger Communities Fund ($750,000). Murrumbidgee Council will also contribute to the project.
Relevant dates: commenced July 2021. Expected to be completed by October 2022.

Coleambally, Brolga Place redevelopment
Details: Brolga Place is the hub for shopping and community gatherings in Coleambally. It is proposed to redevelop this important community hub and Council has worked hard with the Chamber of Commerce, businesses and community groups to develop a concept that is supported by all areas of the community.
Project Cost: $1.5 million
Funded by: NSW Government Stronger Communities Fund

Coleambally, Calrose Avenue
Details: Rehabilitation
Funded by: NSW Government Fixing Local Roads Program ($584,700)
Relevant dates: Funding announced October 2021. Scheduled start date: November 2022. Expected completion: January 2023.
Coleambally, Channel Nine Road
Details: Reconstruction of 5.6 km of sealed road.
Project cost: $1,236,000
Funded through: NSW Government Fixing Country Roads Program within the Restart NSW Fund.
Relevant dates: Commenced in September 2021. Expected completion: November 2022.
Coleambally, Ercildoune Road
Details: Resheeting of 7 km of unsealed road.
Project cost: $147,000

Coleambally Sporting Precinct redevelopment
Stage One
Project cost: $369,307
Details: amenities building and junior change rooms at Number 2 oval.
Funded by: NSW Government Stronger Country Communities Fund Round 1 and Stronger Communities Fund.
Contractor: Architect - Steven Murray. Construction - Kennedy Builderes
Relevant dates: Completed in March 2020. Officially opened by Mayor Ruth McRae and Coleambally Junior Football and Netball Club President Danny Graham on 24 April 2021.
Stage Two
Project cost: $1.9 million
Details: new player and umpire change rooms and amenities, and upgrades to the existing clubhouse, including the amenities and scorer’s box. It will also see additions to the netball change rooms, including upgraded amenities and a gymnasium, upgrades and additions to the youth hall and a new cricket pitch.
Funded by: NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Rounds 2 and 3 and Stronger Communities Fund grants.
Contractor: Architect - Steven Murray. Construction - Kennedy Builders Pty Ltd.
Relevant dates: Work started in late July 2020 and has suffered significant delays during the COVID pandemic.

Darlington Point Adrian Douglas Park

Darlington Point Boat Ramp and Floating Pontoon
Project Cost: $1.1 million
Features: boat ramp and floating pontoon
Location: Southern side of the Murrumbidgee River, opposite the Darlington Point Riverside Caravan Park and adjacent to the Darlington Point flood levee bank
Contractor: Comdain Infrastructure
Funded by: $450,000 grant through the NSW Government’s Boating Now Program, with the remainder funded by the NSW Government’s Stronger Communities Fund

Darlington Point Boat Ramp and Floating Pontoon Lighting

Darlington Point Early Childcare Centre Project
Timeline:
March 2022 - Feasibility Study undertaken by Julia Ham, ECQ Services. The research into Darlington Point and surrounds demonstrated there was a need and a want for local childcare which caters for children under the ages of three years and a desire for five day a week early education and care. Tuesday 6 December 2022 - Committee formed at the Community meeting at the Darlington Point Sports Club
Darlington Point Lions Park Display and amenities
Project cost: $580,712
Details: new purpose-built toilet block and display area for historic items. The new amenities will also provide storage facilities for the local Lions Club.

Relevant dates: Completed: August 2020. Officially opened by Parliamentary Secretary to the Deputy Premier Steph Cooke and Mayor Ruth McRae on 3 March 2021.
Darlington Point Off Road Car Parking and Public Toilets at Gum View Cafe (Lift and Change Amenities)
Details: A new amenities block with off-road parking in Darlington Point along Carrington Street (Kidman Way) in front of the cemetery. It includes a lift and change facility to cater for people with severe disabilities.
Project cost: $1,099,980
Funded by: $349,980 grant through the Australian Government Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program
Relevant dates: Amenities: Start: May 2022. Complete: December 2022. Carpark: Start: March 2023. Complete December 2023.
Notes: Council adopted a Masterplan at the May 2021 Meeting to install amenities blocks, which include lift and change facilities for people with disabilities, in each town in the Council area.

Darlington Point Mini Skate Bowl
Location: CWA Park (addition to existing Skate Park)
Features: flatbanks, roll-ins, high rails, quarter pockets and a mogul blend
Design and construction: Haley Constructions
Project cost: $204,209
Funded by: Australian Government Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program
Relevant dates: Construction began: October 2021. Project completed: December 2021. Officially opened by Member for Farrer Sussan Ley and Mayor Ruth McRae in April 2022.
Darlington Point Murrumbidgee Shire Hall
Details: Structural improvements, new commercial kitchen and catering equipment, and general internal improvements.
Funded by: NSW Government Stronger Communities Fund
Cost: $400,000
Relevant dates: Start: January 2021. Complete: May 2023. Officially opened by Mayor Ruth McRae on 1 July 2023.
Darlington Point Splash Park
Location: near the existing Darlington Point Swimming Pool
Funded by: NSW Government Stronger Country Communities Fund Round 3
Cost: $316,528.00 (GST exclusive)
Relevant dates: Called for tenders in September 2021. Community engagement - November 2021. The tender was awarded to ELM Aquatics (Design and Construct) in December 2022. Construction start: February 2022. Project complete: September 2022.
Darlington Point Sports Facilities Upgrade
Details: This project involves extensive improvements to the Darlington Point Oval change rooms, including:
- adding female change rooms (funded by NSW Government Stronger Country Communities Fund Round 1 and Stronger Communities Fund).
- upgrading the existing toilets, kitchen and men’s change rooms and further renovations of grounds and equipment (funded by Stronger Country Communities Fund Round 2, Stronger Communities Fund and contribution levies provided by the Darlington Point Solar Farm project).
Darlington Point Riverside Caravan Park
A $9 million staged upgrade to Darlington Point Riverside Caravan Park is proposed with the Master Plan for the park’s future development. Council plans to fund the project with a mixture of capital grants (yet to be secured) and loan borrowings. Based on the projections in the Master Plan, the construction phases will provide 30 new local jobs and inject $15.66 million into the Murrumbidgee Council economy.
Stage 1: eight new elevated cabins/eco structures on short-term sites, a new camp kitchen building, upgrading the main amenities building to include an accessible bathroom, new reception, new splash pad and new playground, improvements to the Town Beach Reserve Precinct, which include widening the roads, new car parking areas, clearing and levelling the area, new park furniture and landscaping, new public toilet and a serviced pad for food vans.
Stage 2: seven more elevated cabins, new concrete slab/synthetic grass pads on 29 caravan sites, upgrading the internal road network, upgrading the southern amenity buildings and installing en-suites in 4 short-term sites. Some of the other inclusions include a new BBQ shelter for a camping area and a new river viewing deck.

Darlington Point Wiradjuri Walk
Details: provide temporary and semi-permanent activation works around Darlington Point and at some key locations across the Council area.
The name 'Wiradjuri Walk' symbolises the journey we've all made through history, starting with the First Nations people more than 60,000 years ago and continuing today in 2021. Together, we're building a future that remembers our past and celebrates the future.
Elements of the project include:
- Public art created by Kerri Weymouth, Bohie Palacek and the Waddi Art Group.
- Historical photos.
- Storyboards capturing the area's history.
- More clearly defined walking and cycling trails around Fig Tree Park. These now join up with the 1.8 km Goanna Walking Track, which is a track that meanders beside the river through red river gum and black box forests, and finishes at the mystical 'Bunyip Hole'.
- New entrance statements.
- New fencing and bins to improve the accessibility, amenity and vibrancy of Fig Tree Park.

Drought Communities Programme and Drought Communities Extension Programme
Council received two instalments of $1 million as part of this Australian Government program aimed at stimulating the local economy. Projects included:
Round 2:
- beautifying the towns of Darlington Point, Coleambally and Jerilderie
- upgrades to the three public swimming pools, including disabled access and BBQ facilities
- enhancing Christmas with new decorations in each of the three towns
- continuing the employment of the Drought Support Officer to focus on community engagement and well-being activities in the Council area, as well as providing assistance to drought affected businesses and families, and
- developing an Adverse Event Plan (a mandatory component of the funding).

Jerilderie, Colombo Road

Jerilderie Early Learning Centre (ELC)
Details: New purpose-built early education facility to accommodate both a preschool program and long day care., offering 48 places for babies and children up to 5 year olds and will be instrumental in filling the void in childcare services in the area.

Location: On the site of the old tennis courts at Elliott Park.
Building funded by: NSW Government Stronger Country Communities Fund Round 2 ($994,000) and Stronger Communities Fund grants ($636,000).

Relevant dates: The first sod was officially turned on the project by Member for Albury Justin Clancy, Mayor Ruth McRae, Jerilderie Early Learning Centre President Stephanie Girdwood on 28 May 2021. It was completed in May 2022. The building was officially opened by Member for Albury Justin Clancy, Murrumbidgee Mayor Ruth McRae and ELC President Stephanie Girdwood on 29 June 2022.
Jerilderie Luke Park Precinct Redevelopment
Details: Civic Hall and Luke Park surrounds upgrade - enhancing connections within and outside the park precinct. Elements of the project include a deck extension to connect Jerilderie Civic Hall to increase the open space experiences available and pedestrian and visual connections. Other works will include improvements to the Bush Tucker Trail, the walking trail, public art and signage and cultural heritage awareness elements.

Jerilderie Monash Park Netball Precinct
Details: Construct new change rooms
Project cost: $750,000

Jerilderie Skatepark/Pump Track
Details: Designed as both a skatepark and pumptrack, it will cater for skateboards, scooters and BMX bikes
Location: Elliott Park (on the Jerilderie Street/Newell Highway side)
Funded by: NSW Stronger Country Communities Fund, Round 3 ($263,900) and Australian Government Local Roads & Community Infrastructure funds of $100,000.
Contractors: Haley Constructions.
Dates: Community consultation - April 2021 (concepts) and November 2021 (design). Construction commencement date: 22 November 2021. Project completed: February 2022. Officially opened by Member for Farrer Sussan Ley and Member for Albury Justin Clancy in April 2022.

Jerilderie Sports Stadium and Community Gym - Studio addition
Project cost: $225,000
Details: The studio room contains: full-length mirrored wall, portable ballet stand, air-conditioning and lighting.
Contractor: Kennedy Builders
Funded by: $225,000 grant from the NSW Government's Sports Election Commitments Program for Female Sports Participation (Office of Sport).
Relevant dates: Completed in January 2021. Officially opened by Member for Albury Justin Clancy MP and Mayor Ruth McRae on 10 March 2021.
Jerilderie Showground
Projects:- Grandstand Roof: Project cost: $67,800. Funding source: NSW Government Crown Lands Stimulus Funding $67,800.
- Amenities block: Project cost: $305,502. Funding source: NSW Government Strong Country Communities Fund Round 1B and Stronger Communities Fund.

Jerilderie Swimming Pool upgrade
Project cost: $1.96 million project
Details: Replacement of the 25-metre pool, the toddler and baby pool area.

Funded by: NSW Government Stronger Country Communities Round 2 and Stronger Communities Fund
