Drought Communities Programme - extension
The Federal Government announced in March 2019 that the Drought Communities Programme will provide up to $1 million funding to Murrumbidgee Council to deliver benefits to the region. The program will support local community infrastructure and other drought relief projects for communities impacted by drought.
Funding will target infrastructure and other projects that:
- provide employment for people whose work opportunities have been impacted by drought
- stimulate local community spending
- use local resources, businesses and suppliers
- provide a long-lasting benefit to communities and the agricultural industries on which they depend.
To ensure Murrumbidgee Council is supporting local resources, business, and suppliers, Council are calling for business to register how they’ve been affected by drought. Businesses can provide contact details, the resources and/or services you supply and indicate how you have been impacted by the drought.
Council will use this information to match drought affected resources, businesses, services and individuals to complete the proposed drought relief projects.

Further updates on successful Murrumbidgee Council projects will be made in the near future.
