  • Sir John Monash Dinner & Lecture

    This years event will see guest speaker Michael Bennett present. Michael is a consultant director with Escient, an Australian digital and business advisory firm, and board member of the Spirit of Australia Foundation. 

    He leads and delivers consulting services to organisations in the telecommunications, banking & finance, government, education and health sectors. He holds a BSc from Monash University and a Master of Management from the University of Melbourne. 

    Michael is a member of the General Sir John Monash Foundation, and Chairman of their Scholarships Selection Panel in Victoria. The John Monash Scholarships are Australia’s own postgraduate scholarships, with the aim to foster leadership, expertise and build Australia’s capabilities for the future.

  • The Yanko Historic Store Open Day

    Please find attached an invitation to the Opening of the recently restored Old Store at The Yanko, situated 25 kms north of Jerilderie.

    Join us on Monday 21 October , to celebrate the restoration of the Old Store and installation of interpretative displays. 

    The solid two-story brick store was constructed in the 1870s to a high standard and included all the facilities needed for the daily operations of Yanko station. This included a shop supplying non-perishable goods, a post office, bookkeeper’s office, livery, gaol and later a telephone exchange.

    This two-phase project involved restoration of the Old Store through drainage improvements, repair of brick work, external painting of doors and windows and replacing the roof. Phase two developed an interpretation and display area for visitors in three of the Old Store rooms and an education package for school groups.

    The Open day runs from 10.00am to 12.30pm and includes entry to interpretation rooms, morning tea and opportunity to learn about the history of Yanko Station.

    Owners and managers of local heritage items are encouraged to attend to gain an insight into the different approaches needed for a working on a heritage building.

    The opening is part of the Yanko Store restoration project supported by the NSW Government through the Heritage Near Me program.

  • Jerilderie Flower Show

    The Jerilderie Flower show will be held once again by the Jerilderie Uniting Church Fellowship.

    The towns most beautiful flowers and cookery will be on display as well as market stalls and entertainment items from the local children.

    Entries open from 8.30am, closing at 11.30pm.

    A beautiful morning tea and lunch will be available with the official processdings begining from 2pm with the opening and announcement of TIdy Towns Awards.

  • Jerilderie Mid-summer Bash!

    Jerilderie is set for an afternoon of fun on Saturday 21 December with the Mid-summer Bash at the swimming pool, hosted by Murrumbidgee Council.

    Activities include a large adult-size inflatable slip ‘n’ slide, a variety of games and activities, and also a free sausage sizzle.

    The Mid-summer bash will be run from 1-5 pm

    It is funded through the Rural and Regional Youth Participation Grants.

    This is combined Jerilderie community initiative to raise money for those affected by bushfires.

    The Riverina Classic Catch and Release Fishing Competition is a great 3 days of fishing over a weekend in February each year. As a charity event proceeds are distributed to a chosen charity each year & also used to re-stock the Murrumbidgee River with native fingerlings securing a healthy and sustainable fishing future.

  • International Women's Day luncheon

    Join with Murrumbidgee Council and the wonderful women across the Murrumbidgee area to celebrate the contribution women make to our rural community.

    Dual Paralympian Dr Hannah MacDougall as guest speaker for the luncheon. Dr MacDougall will be an inspirational speaker. Not only are her sporting achievements quite amazing, she also has a background in inclusion advocacy and strongly believes in empowering communities, which will be fascinating.

    Dr MacDougall is an elite athlete, dual Paralympian, bronze medallist and previous world record holder. She has captained the Australian Swimming Team at both a World Championships and Paralympic Games and is currently training for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

    When Dr MacDougall isn’t training, she is an inclusion advocate, mindfulness and wellbeing ‘pracademic’ and community engagement advisor at the Victoria State Emergency Service. She has a PhD in Well-being.

    This event is free of charge and is generously supported by Murrumbidgee Council through the Australian Government Drought Communities Programme.

    A bus will be available for Darlington Point and Coleambally residents.

    What is Foot Golf?

    It's a fun COVID safe game with the rules of golf, but you use a soccer ball.

    You can join in the fun as an individual or make up your own team of four.

    There will be some amazing prizes for the winning team, best dressed invidual and best dressed team!

    Open to youth aged 12-24 from the Murrumbidgee Council area.

  • Redneck River Run 2020

    What a great idea this is! While no more entries are available to take part in this fantastic event, spectators will be able to watch from the shore and cheer the fleet of tinnies along the Murrumbidgee River as they head off on a trip of a lifetime.

    Participants will travel by tinny with their mates or family in a group with like minded adventure lovers. Add in fishing and fun along the way!

    The river run will be held in the Murrumbidgee River, with participants able to travel from

    • Darlington Point to Hay 
    • Darlington Point to Carrathool, or
    • Carrathool to Hay

    We're holding both a bulky waste and a green wste colection so we can all be 'bushfire ready'.

    Just have it on your nature strip by 8 am on Monday of the week of your collection and it will be collected throughout the week. The bulky waste and the green waste will be collected separately.

    Toganmain Woolshed is the largest shearing shed still standing in Australia and holds an extraordinary place in Australia's pastoral history.

    Toganmain Wooshed Precinct Inc is focused on preserving and restoring Toganmain for its signficant heritage and tourism value.

    To secure Toganmain's future, we now need a larger local support group to help drive this project.
