Community Grants Round 2

Murrumbidgee Council has had an overwhelming response to Round 2 of the Community Grants Fund (CGF).

Forty six applications from various community groups across the Local Government Area have been received for this round, totalling more than $1.5 million.

The CGF Round 2 will allocate up to $500,000 in grants to incorporated not-for-profit community groups, for projects that build more vibrant, sustainable and inclusive local communities.

The maximum grant allocation available per project approval is $50,000, with all applications to be assessed by a Fund Assessment Panel established by Council.

Administrator Austin Evans said he was pleased to see so many groups take the opportunity to apply.

“The fact that we have so many good applications for worthwhile projects won’t make it easy for the assessment panel,” he said.

“The great thing about these grants is that we all benefit in the end because the projects help build a stronger and more vibrant community.”

Council’s Local Representation Committee (LRC) will meet to discuss the submissions on 9 May followed by a meeting of the Fund Assessment Panel, with the results going to the next Council Meeting on 25 May.

Community groups will be notified of their success or otherwise.
