Established in 2016, after a merger of Murrumbidgee Shire Council and Jerilderie Shire Council, Murrumbidgee Council covers an area of 6,680 square kilometres including over 100 kilometres of natural river frontage to the Murrumbidgee River. The longest creek in Australia, the Billabong Creek, also runs through the Council. Steeped in heritage and charm, the close proximity to the major cities of Sydney and Melbourne as well as regional hubs including Griffith and Wagga Wagga make it a sought after location for residents and visitors to the region. The Council has a growing population of 4,047, employs 100 staff with an operating budget for 2016/2017 of $15 million. 

Council has recently adopted a new structure to take the new organisation into an exciting new phase. The Council is seeking to recruit a high performing executive leadership team to support the general manager and council to drive change and establish an outcomes driven organisation to ensure exceptional services in line with organisational priorities.

Assistant General Manager, Corporate and Community Services: This senior role leads the development and delivery of Council’s corporate and community functions. Incorporating the Council’s customer service, finance, governance and information services as well as community development and service units including the library, aged care and youth services, this role is critical to the ongoing success of the council’s operations.

Assistant General Manager, Infrastructure and Environment: This is an exceptional opportunity for a commercially astute and service delivery oriented senior executive to lead the development and delivery of council’s infrastructure and operations functions including technical services, assets, RMCC including a viable private works model and town operations. The position also has responsibility for the council’s Environmental Services functions including planning and health and building.

·         Reporting directly to the General Manager, both roles will require significant experience in leading change and delivering quality community outcomes at a senior management level. 

·         You will be able to demonstrate genuine leadership qualities, strategic management capabilities and an ability to create a values based culture. 

·         You will also have the demonstrated capacity to build effective and productive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. 

·         As part of the Executive Leadership team, you will be responsible for the collective strategic direction of Council.
