Darlington Point & Coleambally Communities

Council's Community Transport Service operates a monthly bus service for all residents within the Council.

A bus leaves Coleambally at 9.00am every second Thursday from the Post Office, Kingfisher Avenue. It stops to pick up passengers at the Council Chambers, Carrington Street, Darlington Point at 9.30am and proceeds to Griffith. The bus then returns in the afternoon, leaving from the Griffith Visitors Centre at 2.00pm.

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM THIS SERVICE?

The Berrigan & District Home & Community Support Services provide support to older people and their carers to live independently at home and be part of the community.

You may be eligible to receive assistance from the Home Support service if you are:

  • An older person aged 65 or over and having difficulties managing in your own home (or over 55 if you are an Aboriginal person).
  • A carer providing help to an older person aged 65 or over.
WHAT DOES THIS SERVICE PROVIDE?

Assistance with non emergency transport for specialist and medical appointments.

WHAT DOES THE SERVICE COST?

The Home Support Service has been made possible through funding provided by the Australian Government under the Commonwealth HSP and auspice by the Berrigan & District Aged Care Association.

All clients are asked to pay a contribution for each service.

 

Car and Bus Transport

Council provides car and bus transport for those living in Darlington Point and Coleambally without their own transport to attend medical appointments, etc.

The NSW Community Transport Program (CTP) aims to assist those people living with physical, social, or geographical factors that limit their access to public transport.

The CTP aim to reduce transport disadvantage by coordinating more sustainable and cost effective transport services for the resources available.

To be eligible, people must;

  • Have a mobility disability that prevents them using conventional transport systems.
  • Live in a more remote area of NSW without access to conventional transport systems.
  • Need to use community facilities/resources that are unavailable during conventional public transport operating hours.
Valmar Support Services are currently providing a bus service linking Jerilderie to Cobram the 1st Thursday of the month and Jerilderie to Albury the 3rd Thursday of the month. Cost for bus service $10.00 return trip.

They are now able to provide a vehicle to Jerilderie 3 days a week - on Monday, Thursday and Friday. Cost for vehicle service within Jerilderie, $2.00. Cost for vehicle service to nearby towns, $5.00.

Community Transport can be used for shopping to your local supermarket, chemist, daycare, business appointments, or visiting family and friends in nearby towns.
